Sage 300 - System Manager

The System Manager module allows users to create and maintain Sage 300 databases, define security settings for user access and establish company-wide settings for currency and fiscal periods. Functionality is divided into two broad areas; Administrative Services, which defines security settings and allows users to copy or backup datasets, and Common Services, which defines fiscal calendar options and currency settings for the company. This course is designed to provide users with a comprehensive understanding of the ADMIN user functionality within Sage 300 in order to create and maintain secure Sage 300 databases.

Course overview

This course will provide you with the skills necessary to use System Manager, which controls access to all Sage 300 accounting modules. It is the core from which all other modules operate and affects nearly everything you do in your Sage 300 system — from establishing security to using the Finder to search for a record within a file. System Manager includes effective tools that ensure data integrity, complete processing and security management, enabling users to work more productively. System Manager also allows Sage 300 to run through a standard Web browser — without client software —centralizing IT management and lowering overall ownership costs.

 

Sage 300 System Manager also includes comprehensive Bank Reconciliation functionality, which enables you to quickly and accurately reconcile all of your bank accounts, as well as perform bank transactions with accuracy. Bank Reconciliation is built into the System Manager, providing seamless connectivity to all sub-modules to help you better track your cash position, so you can make insightful and timely decisions for your business.

This course is based on a combination of theory and practical hands-on training.

What will I learn?

  • Navigating and customizing the Classic desktop This session will show you how to use, navigate and customize the classic desktop of Sage 300 to suit your needs.
  • Resources and common tools used in all Sage 300 applications. In this session, you will learn how to use the various resources and customization tools to build your comfort level in moving through the Sage 300 applications. This lesson shows how to change the way you view the Sage 300 desktop, set print options, and work with and customize the finder, data entry or inquiry screens to suit your needs.
  • Managing Your Visual Process Flow In this session you will learn how to use the standard process flow template, customize the existing process flow or create your own process flows.
  • Learning to use Administrative Services. You will learn how to use Administrative Services, you can activate data, check data integrity, identify restart records for incomplete processing, and maintain user information (for example, add user records, create security groups, set up user authorizations, customize user interfaces, and create customization directories).
  • Common Services This session will teach you about Sage 300. These services manage company, fiscal calendar, currency, optional data, banking, scheduling recurring transactions, bank transfers, and sales tax for all your integrated Sage 300 programs.
  • Tax Services In this session you will learn how tax services manages all taxes incurred by your company's sale or purchase of goods and services. You will be able to create and maintain tax tables, calculate taxes, and retains tax audit information.
  • Bank Services In this session we will discuss Bank Services, set up of Bank Services and Bank Services transactions - bank entries, reverse transactions and reconciliation.
  • Database Maintenance This lesson deals with System Manger routines and utilities use to perform maintenance checks on your Sage 300 system. Used correctly, along with your normal company backup procedures, the tools provided with assistance in keeping your database accurate
